Being the best you.
Harvey Falconer, MSc, GMBPsS - Sport Psychologist in Training.
I’m currently completing my Qualification in Sport and Exercise Psychology, working in supervised practice as a Sport Psychologist in Training. Striving to achieve chartership so that I can lose the “in Training” part of my title!
My experience in supervised practice ranges across football, snooker, golf and cricket. I have provided scientifically evidenced and professionally judged psychological analysis of academy footballers to advise recruitment decisions, and subsequently, developmental decisions. Additionally, I provide supervised psychological services to individual athletes and teams. I have also hosted a handful of workshops at local golf clubs. Academically, my master’s research project became the first of its kind, proving the existence of a “quiet eye” within snooker. Something which was recognised by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. I have also assisted PhD researchers observing coaching behaviours at Women’s Premier League level regional talent clubs.
Throughout my life, I have competitively played a vast range of sports including football, snooker, skiing, golf, cricket and running. Arguably my proudest sporting moment is pictured above (green top and running vest). Alongside a good friend of mine, I completed the Rivington Backyard Ultra Event. In 9 hours and 27 minutes of running, I covered 81 gruelling kilometres, with (as near as makes no difference) 2,400 metres of elevation gain (that’s over a quarter of the way up Mt. Everest). It is my belief that you cannot understand how to get others to maximise their potential, if you have never maximised your own. The completion of my ultra-marathon showed me I can maximise my own. Combining this with my ever-growing practical experience puts me in a great position to help others realise just how great they can be.
