Being the best you.
Harvey Falconer, MSc, GMBPsS - Sport Psychologist in Training.
My life has been completely dominated by sport. I spent my youth racing on skis in Austria, playing football in academies and running cross country in County races. My range of competitive experience in varied sports has given me unique insights into the trials and tribulations of elite sport and I have taken my experience as a competitor into my work as a practitioner.
My experience in practice ranges across football, snooker, golf, cricket and beyond. I have provided football agencies with scientifically evidenced and professionally judged psychological analysis to advise recruitment decisions, and subsequently, developmental decisions. Additionally, I provide psychological services to individual athletes, teams and organisations. Academically, my master’s research project became the first of its kind, proving the existence of a “quiet eye” within snooker. Something which was recognised by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association.
My proudest sporting moment is pictured above (green top and running vest). Alongside a good friend of mine, I completed the Rivington Backyard Ultra Event. Across 9 hours and 27 minutes of running, we covered 81 gruelling kilometres, with (as near as makes no difference) 2,400 metres of elevation gain (that’s over a quarter of the way up Mt. Everest)! I pushed myself to my absolute limit, the ultra allowed me access to the deepest parts of mind. It taught me ways of pushing the body beyond what I thought was capable, something I want to help others unlock as they strive towards their own sporting goals.
